Sarah Yaffe is a lighting and set designer whose work has been seen in Vancouver, Edmonton, Toronto, Ottawa, Montreal, and Halifax. Yaffe has designed the lights and been involved with the creation and design of the sets for every SideMart production. Her lighting designs for SideMart’s workshop production of Haunted Hillbilly and for Geordie’s production of Peacemaker, as well as her set design for Scapegoat Carnivale’s Life is a Dream, have each earned her MECCA nominations.
Some favourite other lighting design credits include Trudeau Stories and The Misfit (both originating at Theatre Passe Muraille), Blessed are They and Fatherland (Infinitheatre), and the entire 2007 and 2008 summer seasons at Theatre Lac Brome.
Yaffe was brought on as Production Manager for the inaugural Just For Laughs’ Zoofest. She was responsible for the coordination and technical aspects of 200 shows in 10 venues throughout the 16-day festival. She has also had the pleasure of coaching the Production and Directing students at the National Theatre School of Canada for the past 2 years. Her work will next be seen lighting Harvey on the Segal Centre’s mainstage directed by Diana Leblanc. She is a graduate of McGill University and the NTS Technical Production Program.
